Uma coprodução portuguesa filmada integralmente no Algarve vai ter a sua estreia mundial nos EUA. “The Right Juice” foi selecionado para ser apresentado no prestigiado Festival de Cinema de Atlanta a 30 de Março. O filme, sob a direção de Kristjan Knigge e protagonizado por Lúcia Moniz, Miguel Damião e Mark Killeen, foi financiado por empresas algarvias e através de ‘crowdfunding’.
“The Right Juice” é a primeira longa-metragem falada em inglês inteiramente filmada no sul de Portugal. Em comunicado, o filme é descrito como a típica história algarvia onde “as audiências locais vão reconhecer cada personagem”.
A comédia dramática segue a história de um jovem bancário que larga tudo e resolve dedicar-se à plantação de laranjeiras no Algarve.
Durante o trabalho no campo descobre que as terras que comprou possuem petróleo. O jovem vai ter então que enfrentar vários inimigos para salvar o vale da exploração.
O Festival de Cinema de Atlanta, qualificado pela Academia responsável pela entrega dos Óscares, decorre todos os anos desde 1976 e apresenta uma variedade de filmes independentes. Este ano o festival decorre de 28 de Março a 6 de Abril.

Film made in Portugal has world premiere in the USA
A Portuguese coproduction filmed entirely in Algarve will have its world premiere in the USA. The Right juice was selected to be presented in the renowned Atlanta Film Festival the 30th of March.
The film, under Kristjan Knigge direction and starring Lúcia Moniz, Miguel Damião and Mark Killeen, was financed by Algarvian companies and through crowd funding.
The Right Juice is the first English spoken feature film entirely filmed in the South of Portugal. In official reports, the film is described as an usual Algarvian story where “the local audience will recognize each character”.
The dramatic comedy follows the story of a young banker who drops everything and decides to dedicate himself to the plantation of oranges in Algarve.
During his work in the farm he discovers that the lands he bought have petroleum. The young man will have to face several enemies to save the valley from exploitation.
The Atlanta Film Festival, qualified by the Academy Award, takes place every year since 1976 and presents a variety of independent films.
This year the festival will take place from the 28th of March to the 6th of April.
